Melbourne Zoo: Kangaroo
Melbourne Zoo: Emu
Melbourne Zoo: Inside the Butterfly Pen

Melbourne Zoo: Wednesday morning we checked out of our hotel, took our luggage to the train station and secured it in a locker before getting on the train to head to the Melbourne Zoo.

We were determined to see every animal on display in the zoo, and spent the whole day there, even returning to some pens for ones that were not visible on our first visit.

They had animals from all over the world. We saw many animals native to Australia, including kangaroos, koalas, emus, wombats, tree-kangaroos, meerkats, and countless reptiles, frogs, birds, bugs and butterflies. Both the bird and butterfly displays were large pens where you could get up close to the animals.

After our adventure at the zoo, we headed back to the city for dinner before catching our overnight Greyhound to Sydney.
