Old Vat Taleow: The grounds on which Old Vat Taleow sits have been used as a place of worship for many centuries, but in 1918 the reigning abbot started a building project to erect walls around the temple grounds a prayer hall within. The architecture used in this construction is unique in the area, better resembling ancient Khmer architecture than traditional Lao architecture. Unfortunately, little of that hall remains after being bombed by an American F-105 on 20 November 1969. Several large trees now grow directly out of the hall's ruins.

Among the bomb craters strewn throughout the temple grounds sits another prayer hall that is still intact, constructed in the more traditional Lao style. The walls inside the hall are donned with religious frescos, and an altar containing a Buddha image atop an elephant sits at one end.
