Morning Meeting: Sunday was the big work day of our time spent in London. After breakfast, the three of us hopped on the London Underground and headed downtown to the Corinthia. There Peep met up with her bosses and the Lao delegation attending the morning meeting. Paap went into the meeting room to cover the Lao-English interpretation while Peep and I hung out in the lobby just in case she would be called in. After about an hour and a half it became apparent that Peep wouldn't be needed, so we walked to nearby Trafalgar Square and entered the National Gallery.

The National Gallery

The National Gallery: The National Gallery houses western paintings from the mid-13th through the 19th centuries. Exploring a fraction of the gallery space in the ninety minutes we were there, Peep and I saw mostly paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries, including works from well-known artists Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Georges-Pierre Seurat and Vincent van Gogh.

From the National Gallery, were hurried back to the Corinthia before the meeting let out to get updated on the plans for the rest of the day. It turned out Peep was not needed the rest of the afternoon, so we hiked up to the British Museum for a tour while Paap headed out on his own to do some shopping before heading back to the hotel.

The British Museum: The British Museum has on display artifacts and relics from all over the world. Since we were in London, we decided to concentrate on European history and then Ancient Greece and Rome, but didn't miss the opportunity to see the highlights of the other sections, including the Rosetta Stone, Assyrian Lion Hunt reliefs, Parthenon sculptures, an Easter Island statue, Ming Dynasty jars, Samurai armor and Egyptian mummies. Like at the National Gallery, our time at the British Museum was limited to about ninety minutes as they started closing down the display rooms shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Evening Meeting: As we were finishing dinner at a local Mexican restaurant (British, Italian and Mexican food seeming to be the most popular here), Peep received a phone call from one of her bosses requesting an evening meeting. We accompanied him and his assistant to a McDonald's near his hotel, where he ate dinner, before finally getting in touch with Peep's other boss. It was then back to the Corinthia where I again waited in the lobby, this time while Peep met with her bosses. Following the meeting, we got on the tube for the ride back to our hotel.
