Map of Thailand

Arrival: After a short flight from Luang Prabang, Laos we arrived in Bangkok but had trouble finding the driver we had hired for the trip. We eventually found him and headed off to the hotel to check in. The driver got lost, so it took a while to get there. After checking in and getting some lunch at the hotel restaurant we decided to do some sightseeing and, after convincing our driver he should drive us rather than us take a riverboat, we were off.

Wat Po: We stopped at Wat Po (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), located on the Chao Praya river, which runs through the center of Bangkok. The temple has many tall spires, called prang, and is home to the Reclining Buddha, which is 150 feet long and 50 feet high, covered in gold leaf, and inlaid with mother of pearl in his eyes and the soles of his feet. Wat Po is one of the largest temples in Bangkok.

Patpong Market: In the evening we went to a market located in a blocked off street lined with strip clubs. We ran into one of Peep's bosses, who was looking at purchasing a pair of jeans. We then went to Sizzler for dinner before heading back to the hotel.

Due to the difficulties we were experiencing with our driver, Peep talked to his boss on the phone and learned that he wasn't even from the Bangkok area, so we decided to let him go and rely on public transport for the remainder of our time in Bangkok.
