Tubing on the Nam Song: The second day we decided to go tubing down the Nam Song. After renting our tubes, a Tuk-Tuk transported us up the river and dropped us off. Once on the river, there are many places where you can stop and visit some more caves, have a bite to eat and something to drink, or swing over on ropes and drop into the river. We made a couple of stops, but Peep was having difficulty getting her tube to shore and I had to swim out once and pull her over. Due to the rain we had been getting, the first cave we wanted to visit was inaccessible. However, the next cave was close to the landing and we were able to venture inside.
Tham None: After a short hike from our landing spot, we came to an opening in the mountain partially filled with water. The only way in or out of this cave was to swim. After some convincing, Peep and I ventured a short way into the cave and let the current carry us back out.
Returning to Vang Vieng: We continued our trip down the river, with high cliffs on one side and a few small villages on the other. Once back in Vang Vieng, Peep finally figured out how to make her way to shore without assistance. What a proud moment. We returned the tubes, showered, had a late lunch and jumped in the car for the ride back to Vientiane.
